I never thought I would get the H.A. award two years in a row in the month of May for a typo, but here is what happened. As you may know, getting ready for our annual “Biggest Little Car Show can be a hectic time. We had volunteered to do registration again, as well as arranging for the T-shirts so the last  couple of months before the show were very busy.  When you throw in our son’s wedding and a trip to Kool April Nites plus our usual activities with two clubs which include doing the Cruiser newsletter you can see why I don’t protest too much when Dan offers to help with some of the typing. In fact, he does most of the data input for the      applications which gives me more time for the fun stuff like creating the dash cards and setting up the mail merges.

After last year’s Flub-up, calling Elise Stevenson’s car a Mustnag, we made sure to proof the database several times before printing the dash cards. However, I had two separate spreadsheets for GHMC and non-GHMC entries. On the GHMC spreadsheet Dan misspelled Fairfield on Sue Calvert’s entry, calling it Farifield. From that point on, as soon as he typed the letters F and A in that column, the computer added the rest. Not realizing that it was a typo, he just hit enter and went on to the next box.  I checked and double checked to make sure that all the cars and models were correct but I didn’t catch      Farifield.  The only two GHMC dash cards that were correct were two late entries that I cut and pasted from last year. Oh, well, we will try and get them all right next year, or not!
