Those of you that attended the March general meeting already know the reason I received the HA Award. This story will enlighten the rest of the club and give my mistake historical documentation for all time. I want to first say that only after hearing I received point for getting the award did I rat myself out. A guy has to do all he can to edge Kirk out of the points lead, the man is everywhere.
We have been restoring the paint on my son Greg‟s 61 International in our shop; this involved removing the fuel tanks. After my shop tech Jose reinstalled the fuel tanks, I decided to test fill the tanks with fuel. As usual this was done by dumping gas from a 5 gallon can into the fill neck. Only problem was the gas wasn‟t flowing into the tank. I questioned Jose about the possibility he left the rag that had been stuffed in the tank connection in place by accident. Jose was sure he had removed it so I tried again with no success. It was only after having Jose remove the fill neck to check that I noticed the small red plug in the end of the gas can hose. Oops! Once the plug was removed the gas flowed readily and the tank tested fine.
