The McCabes haven’t had the H.A. Award for a long
time, but it seems like we were doomed to be saddled up with the little
horsey this month. Being very busy with our construction projects at home
isn’t much of an excuse but it’s the only one we’ve
got! (Tech tip: Never rip out your sidewalks and driveway in the middle
of a wet winter. . . you will be in a mess for months!) Unfortunately,
the mess resulted in Norma seeing her reflection in the little horse’s
flank and the image was posted on Facebook for the whole world to see!
Here are the nominations:
#1) In the middle of all of our construction we realized that we had reservations
for the Snow Train to Reno. Since we had booked and paid for it months
ago we went anyway. Our next-door neighbors, Roy & Roxy, were also
involved in the concrete project and were going with us on the train,
so we opted to drive one car. We parked in the GHMC adopted park n’ ride
lot in Suisun, unloaded the baggage for the 4 of us and walked to the
station. Once we got there, we found a spot under the overpass, right
next to the station. Norma asked someone to stand in it and went back
to get the car. When she came back she was laughing, and telling me that
I would certainly be nominated for the H.A. The car was unlocked with
the keys in it! It is a good thing she went back to move it or we would
have had a long walk home!
#2) Her turn! When they were tearing out the driveway approach, Norma
had to drive her Ford 500 out to the street through the destruction. She
got to the corner and realized she forgot something so she called me on
the cell phone to bring it out. It was quite a feat to get to the curb
since there were no sidewalks either and by the time I got there she was
telling me her car was making a funny noise. I looked and saw cement dust
in the tracks and told her that it was the cement on her tires. She looked
at me like I was crazy and rolled up the window and took off with the
guys waving and yelling. She had run over an orange traffic cone and it
was stuck under the car. She couldn’t figure out why every-one she
passed was pointing at the car and waving until she looked in the rear
view mirror and saw the cone catapulting out the back. She had to turn
around and stop in the middle of Jefferson Street to retrieve it.
I guess we will be sharing the H.A. Award this month!
